Finding Inspiration in Every Spin

About Us

At Pole Artistry, you're not just a student.  You become part of a well-nurtured, fun, and supportive family.  All our instructors are students too, always developing new styles and skills to share with you all.  Collectively, the team has many years of aerial experience and a wide range of certified skills to ensure your absolute safety.

Sarah

Founder/Instructor

The passion and love behind Pole Artistry begins here, with Sarah.  Sarah brings over 17 years of pole dance experience, having trained alongside many incredible international dancers and continues to be a pole student, to grow and develop her style and skills.  Xpert-certified instructor, Sarah has created a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space to allow all who join the studio to grow and feel empowered in their skin.

Sarah has now assembled a team of talented instructors who have an abundance of pole dance/fitness experience and understand the importance of safety and support.  Every instructor adds value to the studio, each with their individual and unique style of dance, quirky personalities, and extensive knowledge and experience.

Caitlin

Caitlin is 33 years old and has been pole dancing as a student with Pole Artistry for 10 years. She has competed at NZAPP 3 times and many student showcase performances.  This year Caitlin joined the instructor team, after completing her beginners Pole Master Training Course by Ecole de Pole.

In Caitlin's words, Pole Artistry is a community of authentic, supportive, life-experienced, hilarious humans and I couldn't be more proud to have them all as my pole family. The physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual gains I get from pole dancing in all of its forms are why I am quite certain that I'll be a pole dancer forever.

Dianne joined the studio as a student of 48 years old ten years ago and quickly discovered how addictive and exciting dance could be.  She went on to compete in the national competition NZAPP three times and participated in the Grand Masters here in Nelson.  Dianne is passionate about pole dancing and how it is good for her mind, body, and soul.  In her own words, Dianne says "It feels good to belong to our pole family where everyone can express their creativity and art, and feel proud about anything they do in the studio.  Pole Artistry is a safe place to express yourself and feel very supported by every poler."

Now Ecole de Pole certified for beginners, Dianne has joined the Pole Artistry instructor team, holding classes for our over 40 students.

Soph

  • Instagram

Soph graduated from Unitec (Auckland) in 2018 with a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts, Majoring in Contemporary Dance, holds a diploma in Te Reo Māori with Te Pūkenga and is currently working on her Masters of Dance which is a research-based thesis. She is passionate about connections between people, and the sharing and storytelling that coincide, which is where a lot of inspiration is drawn for her lessons and choreography. In the little spare time she has, Soph loves to explore movement, often using pathways and landscapes from the outside world to mold her wiggle or flow. Soph's favourite pole move is a Climb, because there are so many ways to climb up and down the pole! It's often used as a transitional movement to get from A to B but she enjoys exploring it as a skill or 'trick' all on its own.

Natalie

Natalie's passion for pole dancing with Pole Artistry began in 2018, with no dance or gymnastics background. With equal measures of hard work and passion, Natalie has built on her skills to become a valued member of the Pole Artistry Team. Natalie has a flare for choreography as well as an inbuilt positive work ethic and puts her heart and soul into every routine. As she has grown her skills within the company, Natalie knows how much it takes to get yourself ready for student showcase performances as she has been in this position also and still continues to perform as a student as we are always learning. She has also competed in NZAPP which was one of the greatest experiences of her life. Yes, this is a workout, but with Natalie, you won't notice that it's hard work due to her natural skill of making each class fun and invigorating, whether it be a slow number or one that gets your heart racing. Your intermediate choreo will be something you look forward to each week.  Natalie is currently completing her Ecole de Pole beginner certification, adding to her experience in fitness instruction!
